Xiaomi Mi MIX 3/LEX Sliding Camera Phone Appears in Patent Filings Ahead of Expected Launch in October

Xiaomi is preparing to launch its new flagship device that comes with a manual slider design. Earlier, we reported a leaked hands-on video of the smartphone that goes by Mi Mix 3/LEX. In the recent development, patent images of the upcoming Xiaomi device have surfaced online, revealing key design details.

Xiaomi Mi Mix 3/LEX: Patent Images

The images clearly display a smartphone with a manual sliding design. There are several images of the all-screen smartphone from different angles showcasing the connectivity ports, camera units, slider positions.

 While most of the fans are expecting the device to come out as Mi Mix 3, a recent rumour states that the company’s first all-screen smartphone featuring a manual slider could be launched as Mi LEX. Earlier, the fans were also under the impression that Mi Mix 3 and the Mi LEX could be two different smartphones but that does not make much sense since the leaks feature the same design.

Xiaomi Mi Mix 3/LEX: Expected Features, Specifications

We are not sure if the device will be launched as Mi Mix 3 or Mi LEX. However, a Xiaomi flagship smartphone with a manual sliding design is confirmed to come out soon. As per the leaks, the device will sport a full-screen display measuring around 6.4-inches diagonally and the display resolution would be a Full HD+.
The smartphone is expected to be launched in three storage configurations. The base variant of the device will offer 6GB of RAM coupled with 64GB of onboard storage, while the middle variant of the device will offer 128GB of internal storage along with the same 6GB of RAM. The highest variant of the device is expected to come with 8GB of RAM paired with 256GB of onboard storage. There might not be an option to expand the memory further.
Under the hood, the smartphone is most likely be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845. In the imaging department, the Xiaomi smartphone is expected to boast a 20MP + 20MP dual camera set up at the back featuring optical image stabilization and electronic image stabilisation. On the front, the device could house a 20MP or 24MP image shooter that would bring several AI-assisted features including AI Portrait, AI Beautify, and more. The device is also likely to feature an in-display fingerprint sensor. The upcoming Xiaomi smartphone will be fuelled by a 4000mAh battery and will support Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0 support. The device is also expected to support wireless charging.
On the connectivity front, the device is expected to feature all the standard options including Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, NFC, Dual 4G VoLTE, and a USB Type-C port. As for software, the Xiaomi smartphone is expected to run on the Android 8.1 Oreo-based MIUI 10 out of the box.

Earlier, the leaked images of the Mi Mix 3/LEX revealed that the smartphone will feature a dedicated Xiao AI button. The Xiao AI button can be used to wake the smartphone on a press of a button. The dedicated button can be used to access several other functions as well. You can ask questions from the AI-assistant by long pressing the button.

Xiaomi Mi Mix3/LEX: Expected Price in India

The upcoming Xiaomi smartphone is expected to be priced at 3,799 Yuan in China and is expected to launch in October. The Xiaomi premium-grade and flagship devices from the Chinese handset maker take a very long time to arrive in India. So, we are not expecting the upcoming Xiaomi flagship to hit the Indian market anytime soon. We are expecting the device to cost somewhere around the Rs.35,000 mark, in case it does hit the shelves here.
